The Big Friendly Giant

… together with various abbreviations like BGF and BFGiant, is a name I decided to use as my Gaming Identity. The Name was taken from the Children’s story books The Big Friendly Giant and it suits me because I’m pretty tall and have a big nose ^^. I started this WordPress Weblog to keep track of my Gaming activities and hopefully help other gamers along the way with my views and findings.

Even though I’m not exactly a born writer, I am still planning on writing some reviews to aid you with your game purchasing; however please don’t expect them to be of high editorial quality. Infact, they are more likely to be full of blunt statements which may well at times not be suitable for minors!

The problem I personally have with many of the big review sites & magazines is that I don’t really know enough about the editor, or I don’t have the same views as the editor, and therefor the reviews, although very informative, aren’t very useful to me.

Below is a list of games i like, which should help you decide if you have interests, likes and dislikes, similar to myself and weather or not my reviews and blogs are going to be of use to you.

Live for Speed (PC) – If you’re into serious racing simulation!
I played LFS for a good 6-12 months quite seriously and It certainly is one of the best hardcore racing sims out there. Having said that, the graphics are pretty basic, especially the GUI, and the game is missing a few features to give it that finished feel which is currently missing (I guess it is still in development).

Counter Strike (PC) – Anyone who likes FPS must know CS!
This game got me seriously addicted and off and on I must have played CS since Beta 1 for a good 5 years. Quite something really and CS is still played today as one of the top FPS games.

EA Fifa 08 (Xbox/PS3) – Still the best football game.
My mate and I used to play Fifa back on the Snes and still today I find that FIFA is a fantastic multiplayer football game. Personally I am not too keen on playing solo but fifa is fantastic multiplayer fun.

Gran Turismo 3, 4, 5 (PS2/PS3) – Simply amazing
It may not be the most realistic racing simulator but as stated in an interview ones they didn’t want to make it the most realistic, it has to “feel” realistic – and for anyone that has played LFS for example should know what they mean.

Warhammer 40K (PC) – A little dated but good fun!
My idea of RTS is basic, simple play. Back in the days of the first Command & Conquer everything was pretty much Paper, Scissor Stone. These days there are so many different units and upgrades that you have to dedicate some serious time into learning all the different combinations and as with most games it becomes a he who has the most time to learn shit wins scenario. Warhammer 40K moved from a simple, fun game, to being almost too complex ones you start adding expandions. Great fun to play with some mates though!
